BLUE GROTTO

Discovered in the time of Roman Emperor Tiberius, the Blue Grotto was initially thought to be haunted by evil spirits, being avoided by island inhabitants and visitors. Rediscovered on the 19th century, it has become one of Capri’s most popular attractions due to its magnificent blue water; the sunlight, passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater, creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. It is possible to arrive at the Blue Grotto either by land or by sea, to then go onboard of a small rowing boat, the only way to enter this fabulous work by mother nature. The visit takes about five minutes.

Opening hours: everyday, all year around from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with favorable sea conditions (in case of high winds the cave’s entrance is inaccessible).

Entrance fee: €17 per person if arriving by private boat and €13 if arriving by land (the Blue Grotto is a cultural site and entrance fees are equivalent to those of a museum).

Please contact our Concierge in order to arrange a private around the island boat tour that also includes a visit to the Blue Grotto.
